English Language Challenges

Topic: English Language Challenges   The first thing that I thought when I started this course was "it's so weird to do this by just sutting in front of a computer", I never truly got used to this... But even though these were online classes, they helped me review grammar content that I had practically forgotten even though I constantly write in English on a daily basis. But honestly... I don't like to write blogs (I used to write them in my last school for Language class, but I never like dthem), because they always took me a good amount of time to write them, plus I don't feel like I learn much from them. Although seeing the positive side, it helps me to practice my writing. I have always believed that I really need to practice my pronunciation when speaking in English. And I know I can perfectly write in English, but when I need to speak it in public I always tend to get nervous and to commit mistakes in terms of grammar and vocabulary. A way that I have tho...

Changes to my Study Programme

Blog post 7 Topic: Changes to my Study Programme As you can see, today's topic is the changes I ould like to have for my study programme. And to be honest, I can think about five aspects: the curriculum, workload & length of studies, faculty facilities, use of technology and teaching methods. First of all, about the curriculum of subjects I have to study, I can say that I would like to have more chances of getting into classes that have a focus on visuality and media or graphic design since that's my area of interest. And, in terms of workload & length of studies, I think it's necessary not to overload studnets with work by asking for extra asynchronous work, since we also need time and rest for ourselves. If we talk about the use of technology, I think that several of my classmates would like to have even more modern yechnology in terms of the use of machinery such as 3D printers and tools to prototype objects. But when it comes to teaching methods, I have nothin...

Time Travel to the Future

Blog post 6 Topic: Time Travel to the Future   It is funny how every time someone brings up the subject of time travel, the first thing that comes to my mind is the Back to the Future movie saga. So I thought it would be fun if I wrote this blog from the perspective of the plot from one of those movies: Back to the Future II, to be more specific. On October 26 of 1985, Dr. Emmett Brown arrives in the DeLorean time machine and persuades Marty McFly to travel to the future with him once again. They arrive on October 21 of 2015, thirty years in the future... There, the characters witness a lot of technological advances of all kind, from self-lacing sneakers and flying cars, to self-driving jackets (and I'll stop right here because I don't want to give any kind of spoilers, of course). In short, everything looks extremely interesting and modern in comparison to what existed in 1985. Having said that, I think I would like to travel to the year 2051, thirty years in the future of our...

My Future Job

Blog post 5: Topic:  My Future Job   For my future job, I would truly love to be a movie poster designer, which sadly is an indoor activity most of the time. But, s ince movies, cartoons and TV shows are some of the things that I enjoy the most, I imagine that being a poster designer would be absolute fun for me anyway ...  In general, j obs in movie poster design focus on helping to advertise and promote a film in on a large scale. Lots of films have different posters, each of which uses graphic design techniques to highlight one or more aspects of the movie, its cast, and, of course, its story. In this role, you may use graphic design software to create these posters, test movie posters with sample audiences, coordinate with other advertisers, and otherwise work to communicate information about the film as clearly as possible. This job requires a significant understanding of movie poster psychology, such as framing and placing elements to suggest plot details or ...

My favorite show ever

Imagen
Blog post 3: Topic:  The best show ever. KISS is an American hard-rock band formed in New York City in 1973, well known for its members' face paint and extravagant outfits. Having said this, I can say that my favorite show ever was KISS in 2015, at a world tour for their 40th anniversary as a band. This show was set for April 14th, at Movistar Arena.  The day of the show, the place was full of excited people, most of them with their faces painted in reference to their favorite band members. But something else was quite peculiar and special about this situation . . . most of these people had brought with them their families, especially their younger children or siblings. In fact, I was also there with with both of my parents and my aunt. All went well until here . . .  Thirty minutes before the start of the show, my dad and I decided to go in to save the best possible positions to enjoy the show, and my mom stayed outside the building waiting for my aunt, since she said sh...

The best holidays ever

Blog post 2: Topic: The best holidays ever. The best holidays I've ever had happened in February of 2020, just before the arrival of  COVID-19 pandemic in Chile. This idea came about thanks to my dad, he thought it would be a good idea to do something different and go on a little family vacation somewhere we had never been before. In this case, the city of Puerto Montt, at the south of Chile. Since at that time the plane tickets were not exactly cheap (and that it was just me and my parents), we decided to travel by car and make several stops to visit other cities or towns along the way, such as: Talca, Concepción, Talcahuano or Temuco.  After a full day of travel, we arrived in Puerto Montt and looked for a hostel to be able to stay a week and visit the surrounding cities. During the next days, we visited lots of the most popular places in Puerto Varas and Chiloé, such as historical buildings, churches, museums and restaurants. In addition, we traveled by boat and by ferry t...
